Does what its supposed to. I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT reduction is salt use in our water softener since I installed two Caroma toilets (i.e. a lot less water use). Both flushes always get rid of the waste, though the level of the water in the bowl (low) combined with a less thorough "wash" then a regular toilet lead to an occassional stain that requires cleaning a little earlier. Overall, very happy.
I bought this toilet when I remodelled our common bath.
Both my contractor and plumber were skeptical at first and
started negotiating more to accomdate. I simply refused saying
that I would install it myself. When installed both were thrilled
on easy installation and the quiet and perfect operation.
It saves water and looks elegant.
I bought it from Anazon market place through
Wholesale Plumbing and very impressed
with the customer service, packing and follow up.
Thank you Paul
More than satisfied.
OK there are many things that I like about this toilet so I will summarize.
- It uses an adapter that fits over the standard toilet drain with the conventional wax seal. It is far easier to install this way because you can actually see where you are putting the adapter and where the wax is going. Also if the toilet moves it doesn't move the adapter or the seal. This is huge improvement over the conventional design as far as preventing leaks.
- It flushes well and saves water.
- It is one piece so there is no worry about leaks between the bowl and the tank.
- The opening seems a little larger than the standard round opening although smaller than the elongated opening. It might just be a well designed toilet seat or it might be a different standard that is used in Australia.
- The actual toilet slips into the adapter and there is a plastic splash guard. It slips in far enough that leaks wouldn't be a worry, but this is probably the reason one person complained about sewer smells. It won't do much to stop them where it slips in. You have to have solid caulking on the base of the toilet to keep all the gases from leaking out. On conventional toilets the wax seal will do this so the caulking is less important. That being said if this did become a problem for you it can easily be fixed by applying new caulking.
- And finally, the only slightly negative point, since it doesn't attach to the drain directly you, or your installer, has to attach it to the floor directly. For one, if you ever switched toilets the screw holes will probably be visible. Also, if you have tile you have to drill through it which is very time consuming, especially thick floor tile. However, attaching a toilet to the floor is more secure than attaching it to a drain so so it will stay in place better, also preventing leaks.
Toilet seat is not included; the toilet seat Caroma recommends for this toilet is Caroma Caravelle Round Toilet Seat White 301032W.
